British Antarctic Territory 1973-1979 - 7 x very fresh Mint Never
Hinged Watermark w12 sideways & 3 x very fresh Mint Never
Hinged Watermark w14 upright issues as follows:
SG45, 47-51 & 57, 65a, 66 & 77
There were 2 x issues of this set - 1973 Wmk w12 sideways and
1975-1981 Watermark w14 upright. The earlier set is therefore easy
to distinguish. The paper used for this earlier set is also very
different than that of the later issue - the 2nd scan shows the gum
side of the 50p wmk w12 at the left and the 50p wmk w14 at the
right. The gum of the right hand later issue is much whiter and the
paper used is also thicker.
The Gibbons 2012 simplified only lists the cheapest of each
denomination and of those in the offer that are the cheapest are
1½p SG66 Cat 60p, 2½p SG48 Cat £1.50, 3p SG49 Cat £1, 4p SG50 Cat
£1 & 5p SG51 Cat £1 (total £5.10). The Gibbons A-Z 2002 lists
the 1p SG45 @ £2.50, 2p SG47 @ £2.25, 50p SG57 @ £2.50, 1p SG65a @
80p & 50p SG77 @ £1 (total £9.05) - grand total is £14.15
I have assumed that the values given in the 2002 for those not
listed in the 2012 remain unchanged. Sorry that this is so
complicated but the Gibbons simplified is not very useful and very
misleading.
