Kerny István (Szeged, 1879. aug. 25. – Bp., 1963. jún. 13.): fotoművész, postaműszaki igazgató. Kora ifjúságától fényképezett, gépeit még maga építette. Egyaránt foglalkozott a negatív-pozitív eljárások, továbbá az ún. nemes eljárások elméletével és gyakorlatával s a fényképezés ipari alkalmazásaival. Mint művészt elsősorban a hazai tájak, a nép élete és szokásai foglalkoztatták. Képeinek nagy szerepe volt a fényképezés ún. „magyar stílus”-ának megteremtésében. Előadásaival, szakcikkeivel sokat fáradozott a fényképezés népszerűsítése érdekében. Művészi és irodalmi munkásságát bel- és külföldi szakkörök egyaránt nagyra értékelték. Számos első díj és kitüntetés mellett a Ničpce-Daguerre emlékérem tulajdonosa. A Fotolexikon (1963) munkatársa volt.
